About This Spot

Chepo's Tamales is one of those quiet treasures tucked away in Elmira, where the rhythm of daily life slows just enough to savor the simple pleasure of a well-made meal. From the moment you arrive, there’s a sense of genuine warmth — a unhurried ambiance that feels like stepping into a close-knit family kitchen. The hum of soft conversation mingles with the welcoming scent of freshly steamed tamales, hinting at the care and tradition folded into every bite.

This is a place where the soul of Mexican cooking reveals itself naturally, without pretense. Here, meals are crafted with attention and heart, served generously and without rush. Whether it’s a quiet weekday lunch or a special gathering during the holidays, Chepo’s offers a comforting refuge from the noise outside — a setting where friends and neighbors return not just for the food, but for the easy, neighborly connection that comes with it.

The atmosphere is quietly busy, yet unhurried. Portions are generous, inviting shared plates and casual conversations over familiar flavors that speak of home. The menu feels like an invitation to explore traditional recipes, lovingly prepared with fresh ingredients and a richness that lingers comfortably, even after the last bite. It’s the kind of kitchen you wish you had down the block — where dishes carry stories and are made to be savored across the table with people you care about.

For many, Chepo's is more than just a spot to grab a meal; it becomes part of life’s quieter celebrations, family moments, and simple weekends. The sense of welcome here is palpable, reflecting the spirit of those who cook and serve, blending hospitality with the enduring charm of authentic, handcrafted Mexican fare.

I can not explain how good these are. I have not yet been to the physical location but you can find their tamales at Chevron on vaca valley parkway more specifically the vaca valley travel center. They are so delicious and makes me eager to visit their physical location and try all their foods! 10/10 you won’t regret grabbing one!

We ordered tamales, enchiladas, quesadillas, beans and rice for Christmas Eve dinner. Everything was delicious and the owners and their family could not have been nicer or easier to work with. We'll definitely be back.

This is one of my newest discoveries in the solano area. Wow this place serves bigger portions then most places I've visited for the same price. And I will say the food is amazing and tasty.

Chepo's makes great tamales. I love ordering them for family get-togethers , housewarming parties, or just for a night off from cooking. You can order beans and rice to go as well. I've tried the chicken, pork, and chile n cheese varieties. They have plenty of meat and are great warm.or cold.

Oh my gosh! I’ll never go anywhere else for tamales. I’d been craving them and this place was worth the drive. I saw them on yelp and decided to try … they did not disappoint. The whole family are sweethearts and the customer service was impeccable. I highly recommend them. I found no fault. We had 12 tamales for like $30. And we ate every one of them, and two in the car

Well if it's traditional, tasty, tamales that are made very consistent, and are always made tasty, and served hot, I got a spot for you to try. Chepo's Tamales serves and has tamales of all varieties, they stock, pork, chicken, Chile and cheese, and even offer pineapple with raisins. They are a quality little shop, family owned and operated and they do tamales right. Been eating their tamales for years, and have never had a bad tamale ever from them. They taken one thing, and made it consistently for years. I drove out today in order to get a few tamales for lunch, and a snack for dinner too, and needed to get a few fresh pictures to post. If you are in the Vacaville area, then definitely look them up, call ahead, and they'll have your order ready when you arrive. They only have a small store, but don't think that their quality is lacking, because it isn't at all, high quality product, and at a real down home price. I would highly recommend giving them a try. Enjoy and as always, Bon Appetit, and stay safe and well.
